Phenomenal run in St. Paul last week

For our latest run, the group headed back to the east side for another run along the river in St. Paul.  As has been the case most of the summer, we had another hot and humid run, with temps in the upper 70s.  With overcast skies, the group set out from Ox Cart and ran towards the river.  After navigating the concrete jungle for a few blocks, we began the scenic portion of our run along the river.

Overcast skies and a nice breeze allowed the group to push the pace, despite the high temps.  We took the path along the river, behind the condos in Upper Landing Park.  After a short 15 minutes, we turned around and headed back towards the St. Paul skyline.

On the way back, we decided to scout out a future Run Beer Repeat location at the Red River Kitchen at City House in the shadow of the Municipal Elevator along the river.  Obviously, the running options are great along the river, but the location itself looked great, and the tap list was impressive.  The Red River Kitchen food truck is permanently parked outside, and inside is a large space filled with picnic tables, and lawn games, with a great view of the river.  We’re planning on running there in a few weeks – more information to come soon!

After a sweaty 30 minute run, we made it back to the Ox Cart Ale House and headed up to the roof.  Despite being overcast and the threat of possible rain, the rooftop provided a great venue for post-run beverages.  We were pleased to find a nice tap list with a few new beers from 10 Barrel Brewing out of Bend, OR, which has just started distributing to Minnesota.  Most of the group grabbed dinner with the consensus winner being the Fried Chicken Sandwich.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Oh, and the view wasn’t too bad either.

The group was very pleased to have another fun run in daylight, as we’re quickly approaching the fall and winter months were our club runs will be in the dark.  After a summer filled with hot and humid runs, I’m personally looking forward to some cooler fall month runs followed by Oktoberfests and Stouts!

Before we break out the winter running gear and headlamps, join us for our next club run at Wild Mind Artisan Ales this Thursday, September 1st.

Come join us at Wild Mind this Thursday for a 30 minute run, followed by some great beer! As always, we will meet at Wild Mind at about 6:20pm just inside their facility and will start our run at 6:30 sharp so please plan to get there and parked on time. After our 30 minute run we’ll meet back at Wild Mind for a post-run beverage!
